Track Closure and 2025 Changes

Track Closure, Upgrades, and Private Hire Info for 2025

We’ve got some important updates about the track maintenance, upgrades, and changes coming for private hire in 2025.

To make all this happen, the track will be closed from
30/11/2024 to 12/01/2025.

This break will give us time to complete critical repairs and set the track up for a great year ahead.

What’s Happening During the Closure

Here’s the work we’ll be doing to get the track and facilities in top shape:

  • Grass Removal and Repairs: Poisoning the grass growing through the track, removing those sections, relaying fresh track material.
  • Fixing Delamination Issues: Ensuring the surface is smooth and safe for everyone.
  • Berm Repairs: Tightening things up for better flow and safety.
  • Start Gate Upgrades: Welding, greasing, and replacing the old start box with a new one. The new setup will simplify and improve the setup of the ram and associated equipment.

We’re also making an important change to how equipment is stored and accessed for private hires:

  • The ram and associated equipment will now be securely stored in a lockable box on top of the start hill.
  • A first aid kit will also be located in the secure box, along with any additional safety essentials like incident report forms.
  • This means the registry will no longer need to be opened for private hires, streamlining the process and making equipment access easier for everyone. The external toilets will remain open, ensuring basic amenities are always available.

Can We Just Use Two Straights?

We’ve had a few people ask, “Can we just ride two straights while the work is happening?”
Unfortunately, the answer is no. This is a big job, and we’re relying on volunteers to get it done. Doing a half-arsed job isn’t an option, we want it done right so the track stays in top condition. It’s also worth noting that this time of year is incredibly hot, and the track will need time to dry and settle properly after all the work. Taking this time now means fewer issues down the road.

Private Hire Details for 2025

Once the upgrades are done, private hire will be back with more flexibility than ever:

  • 13/01/2025 to 24/01/2025
  • Days: Monday to Friday
  • Times: 6:00 AM to 4:30 PM (last session starts at 3:00 PM)
  • Duration: 90-minute sessions
  • Cost: $25 per session

  • 01/02/2025 to 30/03/2025
  • Days: Saturday and Sunday
  • Times: 6:00 AM to 4:30 PM (last session starts at 3:00 PM)
  • Duration: 90-minute sessions
  • Cost: $25 per session

For weekend bookings, you’ll need to choose either Saturday or Sunday, as fobs will only be keyed for the specific day you book.
This helps us manage bookings smoothly and ensures everyone gets fair access.  From 2025, all private hire sessions will need to happen during daylight hours, as lights in the registry will no longer be accessible.

Specialist Coaching Sessions

Weeknight private hire will no longer be available, but we’re offering something better, specialist coaching sessions with our resident RCBMX club coaches.

Here’s how these sessions will work:

  • Organise Directly with the Coach: You’ll book these sessions directly with the coach.
  • Tailored Training: These sessions are designed to help your young shredder level up their skills.
  • Direct Payment: Payment will be made directly to the coach.
  • Club Coaches Only: These sessions are exclusively run by our resident RCBMX coaches to ensure top-quality training.

This change means more opportunities for focused, high-quality training while still keeping the track available for private hire on weekends.

Why the Closure is Necessary

We know closing the track temporarily may feel inconvenient, but these upgrades are essential. By addressing everything now, we’re ensuring the track is safer, smoother, and easier to use for everyone. With the new start box setup, secure storage on the start hill and external toilets, we’re making the track more accessible and practical for the future.

If you’ve got any questions about the closure, private hire, or the coaching sessions, just let us know.

Thanks for your patience while we make these improvements happen.
Looking forward to seeing you all back on the track in 2025.
