Ready to Ride – Your Guide to BMX Fun in Alice Springs

Welcome to Red Centre BMX in Alice Springs


Whether your little ones  or big kids  are wanting to ride, or you’re getting involved yourself, we’re thrilled to have you join our community.

We make it easy for beginners to hop on the track, have fun, and get a taste of BMX action in the heart of the Northern Territory (NT). Here’s everything you need to know to get started with us at Red Centre BMX, your go-to place for BMX in Alice Springs.


Get Your Licence: Let’s Do This
Before you or your little one can hit the track at Red Centre BMX, you'll need an AusCycling licence.


Don't worry, it’s super easy—and there’s a 4-week free trial just for beginners



STEP 1:

1. Visit the AusCycling 4-Week Free Trial Licence

2. Click Register, pop in your email, and follow the steps.

3. Make sure to enter your child’s name (not the parent's) if it’s for them.

4. Agree to the terms, and you’re all set!
5. Fill in the rest of the details, select
Red Centre BMX as your club, and you’re all set! (not Alice Springs Cycling Club)


STEP 2:

1. Visit the RCBMX online membership portal to select your type of membership.
We accept
NT Sports vouchers so have this handy!

2. Click Register, pop in your email, and follow the steps.

3. Agree to the terms


Once that’s done, you’re ready to roll at one of the best BMX tracks in NT BMX


What to Bring: Gear Up for Fun

BMX is all about having a blast, but safety comes first.


To make sure you’re ready to ride, be sure to bring along:

  • A long sleeve shirt
  • Long pants
  • Closed-in shoes


And don’t forget, you’ll need a full face helmet. If you don’t have one, no stress—we have helmets and bikes available for hire right at the track.


Need Gear? We’ve Got You Covered

If you’re just getting started and don’t have your own gear yet, no worries!


At Red Centre BMX, you can hire:

  • Bikes
  • Full face helmets

We’ve got everything you need to jump straight into the action and experience BMX in Alice Springs.


Training and Gate Sessions: Here’s When to Ride

At
Red Centre BMX, we offer training sessions for riders of all levels.
Here’s what each session focuses on: 

Beginner BMX Introduction:

  • Learn the basics like braking, standing, level pedals, sitting at the gates, and cornering with level pedals.

Novice Gates & Track Skills:

  • Build your pumping skills, work on gate balancing while standing, start manualing, and improve your cornering technique.

Intermediate/Advanced + Adults:

  • Take your BMX skills to the next level with jumping, manuals, and racecraft.
  • Focus on techniques to improve your lap time.


- Open Gates (for All Riders): Open to BMX riders of all ages, except Mini Wheelers.

  • This is a non-coached session where riders can practice freely.
  •  Held every Wednesday from 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM.


Racing Nights: Every Friday

  • Racing is held every Friday night at Red Centre BMX.


Here’s how the schedule works:

Registration Open: 6:00 PM – 6:40 PM

Racing Warm-Ups: 6:10 PM – 7:00 PM

  • 6:10 PM – 6:20 PM – 9 and unders
  • 6:20 PM – 6:30 PM – 10 – 15yrs
  • 6:30 PM – 6:40 PM – 16yrs +
  • 6:40 PM – 7:00 PM – Mini Wheeler warm up

Racing Gates Drop: 7:00 PM

  • 5 Motos (3 motos, 15 min break, 2 motos)
  • (includes Mini Wheeler racing – 2 laps each moto)


Whether your little ones, big kids, or even you want to race, Friday nights are packed with excitement, and we’d love for you to join in on the fun!

We’ve got some important updates about the track maintenance, upgrades, and changes coming for private hire in 2025. To make all this happen, the track will be closed from 30/11/2024 to 12/01/2025. This break will give us time to complete critical repairs and set the track up for a great year ahead.
